Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Crawio ("the Service"), a web-data API operated by Crawio ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you confirm you may bind that company.
1. The Service
Crawio is an API that retrieves publicly accessible web pages you point it at and returns the response to you. Billing counts successful responses only: the page delivered from the website (HTTP 2xx), or the website's confirmed "not found" or "gone" (HTTP 404 or 410), which is a definitive answer too. Blocked, failed, timed-out or errored requests are not billed. Most pages use 1 credit per billable request. Pages behind heavy protection use 6 credits. A response over 10 MB uses 5 credits, or 10 on sites served from residential IPs. A request that targets a country other than the US uses 10 credits, with the first 500 KB of the answer included and 5 credits per further 100 KB. The credits each response used are stated with the response and in your dashboard. Plan allowances, rate limits, and concurrency are shown in your dashboard.
2. Your account and keys
- Provide accurate account information and keep your password and API keys confidential.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account and keys, including team members you invite.
- Notify us promptly if you believe a key or login has been compromised.
3. Acceptable use and your responsibility
You decide which websites the Service accesses and what you do with the data. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use, including target selection, collected data and downstream use, complies with applicable laws and regulations, the target websites' terms where they apply to you, and data-protection rules (GDPR, CCPA, and similar). We provide infrastructure; we do not review your targets and we make no representation that scraping any particular website is lawful for your purposes.
You must not use the Service to:
- access content that is not publicly available (e.g. behind other people's credentials or paywalls you are not authorized to use);
- collect personal data for spam, surveillance, stalking, or discrimination, or knowingly collect data about children;
- engage in fraud, credential stuffing, denial-of-service, or any unlawful activity;
- probe, attack, overload, or circumvent the Service's own security, quotas, or billing;
- resell raw access to the Service without our written agreement.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, with or without notice.
4. Billing
- Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders and handles payment, invoicing, sales tax and billing enquiries.
- Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance and renew until cancelled; a yearly plan's credits refill each month of the paid year. You can change or cancel your plan from the dashboard or by contacting support.
- Only successful responses, as defined in section 1, count against your allowance; unused allowance does not roll over, except when you renew your plan early from the dashboard, which adds the unused credits to the new month.
- Refunds follow our Refund Policy. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice.
5. Availability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it up but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, and maintenance may cause short interruptions. No SLA applies unless agreed with you in writing.
6. Data and content
Data you retrieve through the Service is yours. Responses and short-lived logs are retained only as long as needed to deliver results, operate, and bill the Service. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
We disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and any warranty about the accuracy, legality, or usability of data retrieved at your instruction. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability under these terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or lost profits or data.
8. Indemnification
You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your targets, or your breach of these terms.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the dashboard. We may suspend or terminate the Service for breach of these terms, non-payment, legal requirement, or abuse that threatens the platform. Sections 6 to 8 survive termination.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or in the dashboard at least 14 days in advance, and continued use after that counts as acceptance. Questions: contact us.
